ABOUT
Mauro Wieser is a multidisciplinary artist based in Florida, whose work merges woodworking, drawing, and kinetic sculpture. Influenced by his Swiss-American heritage, Wieser’s art explores themes central to contemporary masculinity, examining the complexities of male identity in the 21st century. His creations address the pressures modern men face, including the impact of advancing technology, AI, and the diminishing space for balanced perspectives. Through his thoughtful and dynamic pieces, Wieser invites viewers to consider the evolving roles and challenges men encounter in today’s society.
"My work strives to open up conversations about the challenges men face in adapting to a rapidly changing world—a world they helped build but now struggle to fit into. By using materials and techniques commonly associated with the manosphere, like wood, CNC machining, gears, and motors, I aim to invite the working man back into the art space, a space from which many men feel disconnected. Through humor, I disarm my audience, sparking dialogue about men's mental health and the hypermasculinity that often prevents self-help. Many of my pieces portray men as part machine, reflecting my own experiences of feeling valued solely for physical capabilities and as replaceable as any tool. I incorporate engraving and kinetic sculpture to examine my identity as both an artist and a man, while contemplating a society that feels increasingly complex and challenging to navigate."
